4 Things You Should Know About Nevada Health Link Open Enrollment

Nevada Health LinkIt’s the time of year when schedules are filling up, holiday décor is filling the malls and people are booking travel for the upcoming holiday season. But if there’s one thing you don’t want to forget this holiday season, it’s your healthcare. Open enrollment for Nevada Health Link is happening now, and you’ve got until December 31 to make sure your healthcare coverage is in place.

Nevada Health Link Open Enrollment

To get started, here are a few things you should know:

You Need to Re-Enroll

If you think you’re off the hook just because your healthcare coverage is already in place, think again; you won’t be “grandfathered” into a plan in 2016. This is especially important if you’re in a subsidized plan; if you don’t re-enroll, you’ll automatically be placed into a non-subsidized plan. That said, if you qualify for Medicaid, it’s not necessary to re-enroll using Nevada Health Link.

Determine Whether You Qualify

Many Nevada residents won’t need to use the Nevada Health Link because they’re already covered under employer-provided plans. That said, if your employer’s plan costs you more than 9.5 percent of your income, or if it is not eligible under the Affordable Care Act, you can apply for a plan under Nevada Health Link. If you’re an individual making less than $46,680 per year, or a family making less than $95,400, you may qualify for subsidies.

Take a Look at Your Finances

Any subsidies you receive will depend on your financial situation. That said, if you miscalculate or misrepresent your income, you will have to pay penalties later. That’s why it’s important to know your exact annual income and other financial information before you apply online.
